Whoever...Whatever (Mark 11:22-24)

MARK 11:22 -24

Beyond the English language, Mark 11:22-24 unveils a treasure trove of delight, with its verbs and tenses, and overall Greek structure, awaiting the reader who chooses to delve deeper into God.

FAITH OF GOD

Mark 11:22 says "have faith in God", or more accurately, "have the faith of God", showing possession and origin, as "the mountains of God", or "the righteousness of God". This faith has its source, and is owned by, God. In addition, the verb is "be constantly; continuously, having, the faith of God". This is not a one time event, but a lifestyle of experience, that is on-going.

AMEN

Mark 11:23 says "verily", or "truly", meaning, 'something that is an established fact'. It is taken from the Hebrew phrasing of "Amen", meaning, 'this is reliable; unchanging; worthy of acceptance, because it is solid fact'. In Hebrew, the word "Amen" and "faith", share the same root, meaning 'firmly founded; unmovable'. Jesus prefaced His remarks, by saying, "What I am about to tell you is unshakeable; totally reliable; because it is the unchangeable truth".

JUDGE BETWEEN TWO

"...whoever will say, to this literal mountain, 'be removed, and be cast into the sea', and shall not doubt in his/her heart...", that is, "...shall not (diakrino), in his/her heart..". A compound word from (krino), 'to judge', and (dia), which is from (duo), meaning, 'two'. Whoever will not 'judge between two', or 'be vacillating between two', meaning there is a constant division in the heart, which is composed of the spirit and soul, going back and forth, trying to make a decision, or come to a conclusion. There is no issue with our spirit, because, we are new creations, created like God, in righteousness and true holiness, but our mind (soul) is not renewed, and it is only in those areas of the mind, where we have received revelation, and our mind is in agreement with our spirit, that the supernatural becomes normal, and we live the God life.

BELIEVE

In those areas where our heart is not divided, we can say what we will, and it will happen! Jesus said, "...but shall believe, that those things which he says, shall come to pass, he shall have whatever he says". Again, the Greek is more emphatic, and the language clearer. First of all, we need to understand, that faith is a noun, and believe, in the Greek, is the verb, but both speaking of the same word. Believe is (pisteuei), the tense meaning, "continues" to believe, or have faith. This is the same emphasis Jesus said earlier "..be constantly; continuously, believing..." This is not passive, but neither is it work, it is a consequence of revelation, of spiritual reality, that conforms our behavior to function after our spirit, where our mind (soul), is in agreement, through revealed knowledge.

SAY...SAYING

The verse says, that when we are continually believing, "...those things that we say, shall come to pass, we will have whatever we say". The English translations, for the most part, make it sound like some future tense occurrence, but the reality is, that the phrasing in the Greek, though awkward in the English, reads, "...consistently; continuously believe, that those things which he/she is saying (present tense) 'is' taking place (present tense), he/she, will have whatever they say".

ASK...PRAY

Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore..", meaning, "...because of what I have just told you (i.e., 11:22-23), I can confidently say to you, that whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them". The word "desire" is (aiteo), meaning to ask, and not just to ask, but to ask for oneself. "Pray", is the Greek word (proseucheomai), of which one of the meanings, is 'to make bold or confident assertions about oneself'. The whole tenor of this passage is not praying in petition for someone else's need, but rather, demanding, with our words, for ourselves, a change in circumstance or situation, by the authority that we have in Christ, through our recreated human spirit.

DEMAND

The verse is even more instructive in the Greek, for it more literally says, "...whatever you demand, for yourself, when you are declaring with your words, be constantly; continuously believing, that you have received [demonstrating immediate consequence], and you shall have". The mountain moves as you begin to speak, when your mind (soul) is believing the same thing that your spirit already knows to be reality. Again, this is not work, or something we have to work up, but rather, this is the natural progression of revelation coming into our life, so that we begin to behave in conformity with our spirit nature.

WHOEVER...WHATEVER

What is also fascinating about this passage, is that it is for "whosoever" (11:23) and it is also "whatever" we say (11:23), and "whatever" we demand for ourselves (11:24), when we are declaring out of our spirit. It is "WHOEVER" says; it is "WHATEVER" they say; and it is "WHATEVER" they demand, for themselves. That may seem somewhat selfish to the religious, or carnal mind, fighting any possibility of conformity to spiritual reality, but this is what the Lord Jesus Christ said; it is what the scriptures teach; not what religion dictates.
