Uniquely Trained and Equipped (2 Timothy 3: 16-17)

Updated: Feb 16

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "... all scripture [announced; proclaimed] breathes God, and causes success in our lives, "scripting" us on the stage of life, while the Holy Spirit serves as "director" of the play/drama, unfolding; giving us solid evidence of spiritual reality, and producing action in us, in accordance with the revelation of truth, restoring us to dynamic awareness of our rightful position of authority in Him, and training us how to walk / live, taking advantage of all our rights and privileges that already belong to us, so that we are completely trained for all that God, our Father has called us to, and fully equipped, to the extent that no circumstance or opposition can take us off guard or gain the ascendency in our lives, fulfilling our divine purpose and destiny, in every good thing."

[This is a very extrapolated, or extended rendering, of the intensive meaning conveyed, by the Spirit of God, in the Greek text of these two verses].

PROFIT & BENEFIT

God, our Father, is never trying to take something from us, He is always trying to get something over to us, for our profit and benefit. Unfortunately, traditional interpretation, rather than biblical translation, has often left this passage in a somewhat negative connotation rather than a positive, uplifting exhortation. Jesus said that a tree is known by its fruit (Matt. 12:33), and though often with good intentions, sometimes it is philosophy, or "religion", in the traditional sense, that is being preached, rather than the scripture that "breathes God".

If what we are proclaiming is not producing radical, positive change in people's lives, for the kingdom of God, then it is not the word of God. The Word of God ALWAYS infuses us with hope; faith; and a love that can't be resisted.

2 TIMOTHY 3:17

In the KJV, 3:17 reads, "...that the man [person] of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.."

EVERYONE

First of all, as noted, "man", is the generic term for "mankind", and could refer to the masculine or feminine gender.

PERFECT (ARTIOS)

Secondly, the words "thoroughly furnished" in English, are one Greek word, which is an extension of the Greek word for "perfect". (artios) is the first Greek word, [ "perfect" ], and contains the meanings of ''perfect; even; exact, as in numbers''. Referring to people, it means 'totally suited; made for a task; inadequate in nothing; totally prepared and capable'.

THOROUGHLY FURNISHED (EXARTIZO)

(exartizo) is an extension of (artios), meaning ''completely out-fitted, with all tools and resources necessary; no possible consideration overlooked; lacking nothing, every possible contingency considered and prepared for''.

WAR SHIPS

This second word was used of ''war ships totally out-fitted for battle, fully equipped to handle every adverse condition that they may encounter, both in provisions for the men on board; adverse weather conditions; and an assault from an enemy''. In other words, the ships were completely prepared in provisions and resources, to accomplish whatever task they were required to perform.

(ARTIOS) & (EXARTIZO)

The first word, (artios), speaks more to the training and conditioning of the individual for a task, to which they are uniquely suited, specially qualified and completely capable of fulfilling.

The extension word, (exartizo), speaks more to the resources made available, to the individual, that is completely suited to the task, for the total fulfillment, in every respect, of the destined purpose.

TOTALLY TRAINED & TOTALLY EQUIPPED

Not only does the announcement of the scriptures manifest the power and presence of the Lord, but the inherent power of that word, completely and proficiently trains us to be uniquely qualified to fulfill the divine destiny for which we were individually created. In addition, this training enables us to be totally equipped to face any task that may be required, to the extent, that there is no conceivable opposition that could possibly prevent the fulfillment of our purpose and destiny.

AFFIRMATION:

I am uniquely trained and qualified for the task that my Father God has created me for. I have all resources ready, and at my disposal, so that nothing and no one can prevent the fulfillment of my divine destiny.

You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours
