Proverbs 25:1 says, ''These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah, copied out.''
God doesn't just arbitrarily insert commentary on certain portions of scripture, so why does God mention this action taken by Hezekiah? I have encouraged my family to daily read, out loud, the book of Proverbs, because it deals with relationships, in every area, but there's another reason to daily read Proverbs.
ROYAL ADVISORS
In Nations like Egypt and Israel, as well as others in the Ancient Near East, ''wisdom texts'', or ''proverbs'', were used to train and educate the upcoming generation of royal advisors. [ ''..Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians..'' (Acts 7:18); the king of Babylon had Daniel and others of the children of Israel, as well as his own children, selected, ''...whom they might teach the learning ...of the Chaldeans..'' (Dan.1:3,4) ].
ADVISORS to the KING
The book of Proverbs is not just a book of good moral advice, it is THE BOOK that Solomon compiled to be used to instruct those who would become advisors to the king! Every Believer is destined for leadership, and Proverbs is the book to learn to help to get you there, to be as qualified as the kings advisors were. I would encourage you to make it a habit to read a chapter in Proverbs a day (out loud), corresponding to the day of the month, to gain the godly wisdom of the advisors to the kings.
You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours.
