Reaching Your Destination (Proverbs 3:6; Genesis 4:1)

Updated: 5 hours ago

Proverbs 3:6 says, ''In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.''

The words ''ways'' and ''paths'', are used almost interchangeably in a lot of passages, but they are different in meaning:

WAYS - means your main direction in life, or we would say, the course of your life.

PATHS - refers to the actual road you are traveling on, on your course of life. It's almost like looking at a road map to see your destination and how your going to get there [because ''ways'' speaks of both direction and behavior], but the actual road, on the map, is the ''path'' that you are on right now to reach your destination.

DIRECT - The word ''direct'' (KJV) is actually the word for building or clearing a way, for safe passage for travelers; moving every obstacle aside to ensure the traveler can get through to his or her destination.

ACKNOWLEDGE - The key word in the verse, is the word '' acknowledge'' (KJV). We would tend to think of ''acknowledge'', as to be aware of or formally recognize someone's presence, but this falls short of the true meaning of the word. Here the word is the same as the word used in ''...Adam KNEW his wife; and she conceived..''(Gen.4:1). The word describes the highest level of intimacy between two people.

PARAPHRASE - A paraphrase of the verse, consistent with it's meaning, would be, ''Become intimately acquainted with God in your life, and God will remove the obstacles standing in your path, to help you to reach your destination ''.

You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours
