Producing Change (Jude 20; Philippians 4:6; 1 Timothy 2:1)

Updated: Mar 1

STIR UP

It seems like much of what I do in study; listening to audio scripture in the car; reading the word out loud; listening to good Kenneth E Hagin teaching, is to stir myself up to pray in tongues.

PRAYER

It's interesting that the word in the Greek that is predominantly translated as 'prayer; to pray', or its derivatives or root words are used 134 times in the NT, while the next most common word translated as 'prayer' is only used 19 times. In other words, (proseuchomai), translated as pray; to pray; praying, is used 7x's more than (deesis), the next most common word for prayer.

SEVEN TIMES MORE

(Proseuchomai) means ''to make bold or confident assertions about oneself; to brag; or to boast; to declare''. (Deesis) means ''to bring a petition; ask for something specific from someone'', but obviously, not used that often. (It's the word for supplication in Philippians 4:6 and 1 Timothy 2:1), but the word for prayer is (proseuchomai) [To make bold or confident assertions about oneself; to brag or boast], that's the overwhelming majority of all scriptural prayer, and by scriptural example, it's the prayer activity that we should be engaged in 7x's more than (deesis), which is actually 'asking for something to get our needs met'.

JUDE 20 says, "but you beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the holy spirit". The word used for "praying", is (proseuchomai).

PARAPHRASE

To paraphrase the text, based on intimations from the Greek, it reads:

"You that are divinely and intimately loved, His favorite, keep building yourselves up into a superstructure that continually grows and expands as a dwelling where He is comfortable and at home, in His dwelling, which is you, built on the foundation of your faith, that is set apart and untainted by the world, and this superstructure is built and grows and becomes the place where He feels at home there, as you pray, (make bold confident assertions; boast; declare), in the Holy Spirit ( speaking in tongues)".

BOLD DECLARATIONS

One of the main spiritual activities taking place, when we pray in tongues, is that our spirit, through the Holy Spirit, is making bold confident declarations and assertions in the spirit realm! We are declaring, announcing things, and bringing about change in the spiritual realm that affects the natural world in which we live. The more we pray in tongues, the more we engage in producing real spiritual change in this natural world in which we live.

You Are God's Best and God's Best is Yours.
