Paul's Prayers
There are 3 parallel prayers repeated in the Pauline Epistles:
Ephesians 1:15-23
Colossians 1: 3-4, 9-12
Philemon 1: 4-6
Motivation
Each begins with a declaration as to the motivation, or reason for the prayer:
"Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints..." (Eph.1:15).
"...since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love to all the saints..." (Col.1:4).
"...hearing of thy love and faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints..." (Philemon 1:5).
Prerequisites
These basic prerequisites prompted the parallel prayers, in which the apostle saw a demonstration of:
1) faith in/toward the Lord Jesus.
2) love to all the saints.
EPHESIANS speaks of the REVELATION required (Eph. 1:17-19):
1. To know what is the hope of His calling.
2. To know what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
3. To know what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us who believe.
COLOSSIANS speaks of the RESULTS received from the revelation (Col.1:10-12):
1. Walking worthy of the Lord pleasing Him in every area.
2. Being fruitful in every good work.
3. Increasing in the Knowledge of God.
4. Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power.
5. Giving thanks to the Father.
PHILEMON repeats the RESULTS and REVELATION (Philemon 1:6):
RESULTS ...........the communication, impartation of your faith comes into existence, supernaturally powerful.
REVELATION .....by the revelation knowledge of every good thing which is in you, in Christ Jesus.
Foundational
These are foundational prayers that you can pray for yourself, which will lead you, by the Holy Spirit, into discovering who you are in Christ; what you have in Christ; and what you can do in Christ.
Confession:
God is who He says He is. I am who God says that I am.
God has what He says He has. I have what God says I have.
God can do what He says He can do. I can do what He says I can do.
You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours.
