Google Maps to Success (Joshua 1:8)

Updated: 2 days ago

ROAD MAP

I can remember, as a small child, going on holidays with my family, and every now and then, we would get lost, in a city, or on our way to some location, and we would have to take out the road map, and try to find out where we got off course. Now, we have "Google Maps", and you can type or speak into your phone, the address of where you want to go, and the google maps "voice", will track where you are at, to where you want to go, and talk you through your destination, until you arrive at your desired location.

JOSHUA 1:8 is like God's "Google Maps" for success, to take you from where you are, to where you want to be, to fulfill your God given destiny in life.

"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (KJV)

SUCCESS IN LIFE

Joshua wasn't needing financial success, so much as he needed wisdom in leadership, both to care for and direct, millions of people, and navigate them through the conquest of the promised land. However, this verse applies to success in any area of life, not just military, or governance, but career choices; business success and development; relationship struggles; financial gain; or any area in life, where we need to succeed in life.

MAP TO SUCCESS

God, our Father, wouldn't give you the road map to success, if He didn't want you to succeed.

JOSHUA 1:8

"...this book of the law shall not leave from out of your mouth; and you shall meditate in it day and night, that you should perceive to do all the things written in it. Then you shall prosper your ways, and then you shall perceive" (LXX, Apostolic Bible).

"...the book of this law shall not depart out of thy mouth, and thou shalt meditate in it day and night, that thou mayest know how to do all the things that are written in it; then shalt thou prosper, and make thy ways prosperous, and then shalt thou be wise" (LXX, Brenton)

DEPART

In the Hebrew, one of the meanings of the word "depart", is "to leave it's proper place". The proper place for God's word, is in our mouth; speaking it, out loud.

MEDITATE

"Meditate", means to speak, out loud, (so you can hear the sound of your voice), over and over again, in repetitive fashion, until the import of the words, registers on the inside; to mull over; to bring up, as if from the depths of a well, and digest the content of thought and meaning.

DAY & NIGHT

The scripture says we are to do this "day and night", which means, ALL THE TIME! If it's not day, then it's night, so this is to be a constant, habitual, consistent, practice in our lives, and the results will be, 100% of the time, consistent, constant, continual, success.

JOSHUA 1:8

"This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate thereon day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shall succeed and prosper" (Lamsa).

"Don't stop reading this book of the Law, [out loud], but day and night think of what it says, so you can be careful to do everything written in it; then you will prosper and succeed" (Beck).

"This scroll of the law must not cease out of thy mouth, but thou must talk to thyself (speaking with oneself, murmuring and in a low voice) therein, day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein, -- for then shalt thou make thy way(s) prosperous, and then shalt thou have good success" (Rotherham).

"Let not this Book of the Teaching cease from your lips, but recite it day and night, so that you may observe faithfully all that is written in it. Only then will you prosper in your undertakings and only then will you be successful" (Jewish Study Bible)

WORD in your MOUTH

Take the Word of God in your mouth, and mutter; muse; meditate on it constantly, and begin to see the effects, of that spoken word, start to manifest itself, in your life. The sooner you start to speak it out, the sooner you will start to succeed!

You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours
