This word study expresses the certainty of God's word concerning you.
Matthew 13:23 says, ".... he/she that hears the word, and understands, ... also bears fruit, and brings forth, some 100, some 60, some 30."
[Though a slight paraphrase, the scriptural context and meaning of the text is maintained in the above quotation].
The scripture says, we hear, and understand the word.
UNDERSTAND
The word understand has three aspects to it:
1) To perceive something with the senses.
2) To focus, on what is perceived, with the idea of examination.
3) To assemble together - in the mind - what is observed, resulting in action from the understanding gained.
PARTICLES
The primary focus of this word study, is the "particle", translated as "also".
Particles are seemingly insignificant words, that have tremendous impact in their meaning.
Particles are often intensive and emphatic "joining" words, that connect thoughts within a sentence, expressing various shades of meaning and emotion, emphasizing a word or portion of a sentence.
ALSO
This particle is only found 6 times in the NT. By examining these verses, we can get a clearer picture of the meaning and use of this word.
Luke 2:15 - The shepherds say, after the angelic visitation, "... Let us NOW go... and see this thing which is come to pass...". The word "now" expresses, in the Greek, urgency; excitement; demonstrated energy, and a certain resolve that the suggested action will be accomplished.
Acts 13:2 - In this text, the particle is not translated into the English. but is found in the Greek after the words "separate me". The verse would then read, "... separate me NOW, Barnabas and Saul for the work..." Again, the word conveys urgency, and something that is commanded to be accomplished.
Acts 15:36 - Again, the particle is not found in the English translation, but should be inserted to read, "... let us go AT ONCE and visit [ care for; see to the needs of ] our brethren..." Totally lost in the English translation, is the urgency and necessity, of the demand, not a suggestion, to take care of the converts that had received the word through Paul and Barnabas, and the certainty that Paul's every intention was to fulfill the action expressed, by actually going.
1 Corinthians 6:20 - The text reads, "... you are bought with a price; THEREFORE, glorify God in your body...", or more properly, "... now; by all means necessary; continually; with a sense of urgency, in fulfilling the demand, glorify God..."
2 Corinthians 15:1 - says, "It is not expedient for me, DOUBTLESS, to glory..." This awkward translation, ironically, conveys a core meaning of the word. It is "doubtless", or an established fact. There is a sense of certainty concerning the action under discussion, and an urgency that it be accomplished.
The word, apart from context, has the meaning of 'something that is an established fact', and 'carries a very intensive force that demands fulfillment of the command or expression'.
The word has the sense that the action demanded is in a continual emphasis until completed.
MATTHEW 13:23 (Paraphrase)
"... anyone who hears and understands the scriptures, will, by the inherent power of that word, EMPHATICALLY; CERTAINLY; it is AN ESTABLISHED FACT, WITHOUT A DOUBT; that the word will CONTINUALLY, UNTIL COMPLETED, with a sense of URGENT DEMAND... bear fruit in their lives..."
You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours.
