(Pauo), [Strong's 3973], is used 17 times, in 15 verses, mostly about something stopping or ceasing, but in Ephesians 1:16 and Colossians 1:9, which are parallel verses and refer to the same Pauline Prayer, the words are used with the negative, meaning, that Paul was NOT going to stop; he would NOT cease; he would NOT quit, praying for the Believers, until they were walking in the revelation of God. This was his primary focus for all Believers.
The word used for prayer in Ephesians 1:16 and Colossians 1:9 is (proseuche), [4335] and (proseuchomai), [4336], which, contrary to popular belief, in regards to "prayer", means, "to make bold or confident assertions; to brag or boast; to declare".
The purpose of the "prayer" was so the Believers would be "filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding" (Col.1:9) or, receive, the "spirit of wisdom and revelation in full knowledge of Him" (Eph.1:17). The words "full knowledge" is (epignosis), [1922], which is a compound from (gnosis), meaning knowledge gained by experience or perception, through the senses, but it is coupled with the preposition (epi), which magnifies the word it is joined with, meaning, over and above and beyond. The idea then, is knowledge above and beyond sensual perception, or knowledge gained through or by, the physical senses of perception.
The emphasis then, is "I am not going to stop; I will not quit; I will constantly, continually, and boldly confess and declare, full and complete revelation; spiritual perception; full knowledge and illumination through your spiritual senses, of all that God is in you and through you, and all that you have, in Christ Jesus".
This was the primary focus of the apostle Paul, for all Believers, not just those in Colossae and Ephesus, and it needs to be the primary focus of all Believers, for themselves, and every person, born of God, so they can enter into the realization and revelation, of all the good that is in them, in Christ Jesus; to know (fully), who they are, and who Christ is, in them.
A concise, abbreviated version of this Pauline "prayer" for Believers, is also found in Philemon 6. The scripture says that in the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word is established, or brought into legal force, as being true (2 Cor.13:1). The emphasis of this confession or declaration is repeated, clearly repeated, 3 times by the apostle Paul, and if it was foundational to his apostolic mandate, then it is foundational to all Believers to make this prayer our primary focus until reality becomes revelation, and that revelation becomes your reality.
You are God's Best and God's Best is Yours
