Best Choice (James 1:18)

Updated: Mar 3

WILL

There are two words in the Greek that are predominantly translated "will". The one is (boule), [1012,Strongs], and the other is (thelema), [2307,Strongs]. The RSV renders (boule) everywhere, as "counsel". In fact, (boule) is the word used in modern Greek for the parliament; the place for deliberation and decision making.

BEST CHOICE

(Thelema) specifically relates to "the enacted will" of God, or "His will carried out", which is the result of (boule). (Boule) specifically relates more to the deliberation between two or more alternatives, and coming up with a conclusion that is the obvious best choice above all others, and therefore, it is the desire or "will" of the person or persons making the choice.

JAMES 1:18 says, "...according to His will [(boulomai), 1014, the root of (boule), 1012], He brought us into being through the word of truth.."

WANTED YOU!!

The pregnant meaning of the Greek text prevents us from glossing over scripture without consideration of the potent impact of the statements made. Our Father brought us into existence; into being, after much deliberation and consideration, because He really wanted us. We were the absolute best choice of every possible alternative selection He could have made. HE REALLY WANTED YOU!

DIVINE PURPOSE

Obviously, if you and I were the result of much deliberation and innumerable potential selections; His best choice, then there is an extremely important divine purpose for our existence, and our life's call is to find and fulfill His deliberate choice concerning us.

You Are God's Best and God's Best is Yours
